We have arrived

Our flights from Brisbane and Perth were on time. We arrived after an 11 hour flight in Johannesburg at 5:30am local time. The driver was waiting for us once we had cleared customs/immigration. After a busy peak hour drive we arrived at the DaVinci Hotel in Sandton.

The room is very luxurious but the view is nothing to write home about - lots of other buildings and construction sites.

First up we had a shower to wash of the 32 hours of travelling, had a cuppa & then a snooze before we headed out to have a look around Sandton City and Nelson Mandela Square. There is an amazing number and variety of shops in the complex. We had an early lunch at 'Steers' before heading back to the room for a restful afternoon.

We went out about 4:30 for another walk around before finding somewhere to have dinner. We came across a huge statue of Nelson Mandela and a few other interesting places. The library has a large arched brick colonnade.
